Song of Solomon 2: 1-7
As we read the beautiful words of Solomon, the Lord is showing us His love for His Bride, the Church.
&l dquo;I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.” V1
The rose of Sharon which grows on the hilltops shows Jesus as the rose of heaven, but He is also the lily in the valley here on earth. The lily which grows between the thorns of this world, but is so beautiful for us to behold.
We gaze upon the beauty of Jesus in the beginning of our love relationship. He is the beauty in this world of thorns. He came down from heaven to become the lily in valley with the crown of thorns on His head, He gave us the opportunity to be set free from the thorns of this world. When we are free, He takes us deeper in a relationship of love.
“As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.” V3
Jesus then brings us under His covering. Even though there are many trees of deception and lusts in this world, He brings us under His safe covering. The place where He renews our strength and we eat of the sweet fruit of His anointing. His love for His Bride is so great that He offers His sweetest and best fruit for the Church to enjoy.
“He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.” V4
Jesus brings us even closer on this journey of love. He brings us into His house with His banner of love over us. The banner that shows to the world “The Beloved of Christ.” The same banner that we also take into the world. Love.
“His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.” V6
A close, intimate love relationship is what Jesus wants. He draws us in close, to His heart. We look into His eyes and only see love.
Folk, Jesus does not want a formal handshake once a week, but an intimate love relationship that progresses from beholding His beauty for what He did for us on the cross of Calvary, to coming under His cover and eating of His fruit. Then He even draws us closer by taking us into His home and places His banner over us and then we go into His beautiful intimate embrace.
Jesus is working with His Bride. Be patient and enjoy His embrace.
