The Supply of Truth

Picture

IN today’s world, people are more lost than ever – they are left alone more to deal with the consequences of their decisions than ever before.  In the past, there used to be those in positions of authority who could be trusted with hard questions, hard lessons and keeping people honest.  That has all changed.  People are left in this world without anyone to look up to – anyone to aspire to!

In a world such as this – there is a great need for discerning men and women, people who can recognize the lost and help them to a place of safety – to a place of belonging.   In short, those who would take the broken and bring them to the inn.  I do not know about you, but I want to be the one who takes a wounded, broken, and neglected soul and bring it to the comfort that can only be found when Jesus himself, as Captain and Head, cares.  I long to bring those hurt ones to His feet and care till they are healed and can go out and fetch some more souls.  Souls in need of help.

Often these lost souls are as confused and deceived as they were when they were outside and with such a great many voices, they have the right to be confused.  So many “prophets” declaring their message as the truth – when in fact the truth is conserved and kept and passed on within the body of Christ.  So then if we believe this statement there are a few questions to consider.

If God has put this body together as it has pleased him(1 Corinthians 12:8), will he not supply the truth through that body?  Will the body, in which every joint supply (Ephesians 4:16) not deliver that beautiful supply, the trickle of truth that – will fill hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Will he not supply the need that exists as in the desert (Exodus 16:4)? Will he not send those to start the flame, will he not send those who will ignite the love of the truth (2 Tim 1:6)?

Jesus was, throughout His time on earth, always around people, always caring, sharing and feeding people.  His provision was in many parables, lessons and shows of compassion.  One such instance was a lady he met at a well one day (John 4).  She never expected Him to speak to her, and she never understood her need for Him and the water He supplies.  It was only after her encounter with Him that she knew the need.

When you read and think about this story today – may the rivers of living water start flowing from your heart.  May it end up wetting everyone around you.  May your supply of water start meeting the need of those around you.  Those desperately broken, disappointed by the world and its voices.   May your supply be greatly dependent on Him who supplies freely.

Freely you have received now freely give (Matthew 10:8)
