Ever wondered what it means to “hang on”, or “hold on” or “just have faith” or my personal favourite “It will get better”? The regular words our friends use to encourage us when we’re going through a hard time. No condemnation here. In fact I’ve used those words too…many times!
But if you’re in the storm, in the struggle, in the hard time, then those words offer little comfort. What’s the problem then? The words? The Friend? Or you? Well it could be all the three. But for today’s purpose I’ll address “you” and by that I really mean ME!
You see if you don’t want to be comforted then no one will be able to comfort you, no, not even God Himself! Hardships, trials, tough times, whatever you’d like to call them are God’s speciality and designed for one purpose in mind.. To drive you into the arms of God. But it seems we run in the opposite direction, well some of us, (Ask Jonah how that worked out for him). The three Hebrew friends though, they got it right! Run into the safety of God Almighty! Daniel in the lion’s pit, oh he ran with all his might into the Rock of his Salvation! Or how about Joseph what was meant for evil God used and turned for good.
Take a deep breath… it is going to be okay my friend, run, run with all your heart into the arms of God, no matter how your head screams to run in the opposite direction. Trust Him. Believe me, He loves you! Who else would give their son to pay a price I could never pay. All because He wanted to hear me say, “Father, I need you, please help me”
“I have this hope In the depth of my soul In the flood or the fire You’re with me and You won’t let go”
