Slaying the giants.
January 2019’s Senior Youth Camp held at the Three Rivers Conference Centre truly was special.
The theme of the camp was “Slaying Your Giants,” and our anthem was “Every Giant Will Fall. “ In our lives as believers on this earth we face many giants in our lives. It can be multiple things, sin, bad friends, or maybe just distractions that take our focus off of God.
One of the main stories ministered on was of course David and Goliath. A little shepherd boy slaying the giant in front of him. We practiced our ‘sling throwing’ capabilities with a very exuberant game of dodge ball. Most of us realised we weren’t any good at throwing balls around and realised that it wasn’t David’s sling throwing prowess that killed Goliath, but his faith and trust in God. When he stood before Goliath he knew that God was on his side and would direct the path of his stone. Likewise we need to put our lives, trust and faith in who God is and what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. He will slay the Giants in our lives.
Romans 8:31 : What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
On the final Sunday we had a lovely meeting along with the beautiful people from the Three Rivers Fellowship and went home with challenged hearts and, we pray, with changed lives.
God can do wonderful things in our lives and on camps like these we get the opportunity to listen to the heartbeat of our Father and make a decision to trust in Him to sort out the Giants that trouble us so often.
